Hog Roast

Saturday 22nd September dawned reasonably bright and at least dry, after the days of rain we have had. Anthony (Fay's husband) and I were at the
Chequers bright and early to put up the gazebos ready for the Hog Roast.
Back to the Chequers again at lunchtime. It was now sunny and fairly warm. They do say sun shines on the righteous . . . . or the devil looks after his own!!!!
The Hog Roast was ready, buffet set out and everyone was socialising, having a drink and I'm sure ready to eat.
The meat was delicious, hot pork in a bap and lots of fresh salad sitting in the sunshine. What more could you ask? I must admit it was colder inside than sat out in the September sunshine.

It was great to see lots of familiar faces and many new ones. Some members we have not met before and some non-members. It was lovely to see the children playing on the swings and lovely to see some of the
volunteers from the shop with their families.
Oooooh, then came the desserts! Naughty but nice, meringues, gateaux and cheesecake. Definitely not a day for dieting!
The Raffle raised approximately £90. There were great prizes, bottles of whiskey, gin, port, wine, as well as boxes of chocolates, sweets and biscuits.

It was a really great day enjoyed by all.
Our thanks to the Chequers and Andy the Hog Roast chef.
